Post-Operative Care at Madera Community Hospital
Your After-the-Operation Destination
If you are scheduled for surgery at Madera Community Hospital, you might
wonder what happens after the procedure? Most patients will be transferred
to the Medical/Surgical Unit for post-operative monitoring and treatment.
Our 60-bed Medical/Surgical unit provides adolescent and adult patients
with expert care as they recover from surgery.
Around-the-Clock Care
The Medical/Surgical unit is located on the hospital's second floor
and consists of private and semi-private rooms. The unit's multi-disciplinary
team, which includes Physicians, Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational
Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Unit Secretaries all work together to
protect patient safety and achieve the best outcome possible. Other individuals
involved in care on the unit include hospitalists, physical therapists,
respiratory therapists, dietitians, and case managers.
"On the Medical Surgical Unit, our values include caring, integrity,
teamwork, and excellence – all of which our staff exhibit every
day," says Meri Combs, FNP, PA-C, Director of the Medical/Surgical
and Intensive Care Units.
Learning Site for Student Nurses
The Medical/Surgical unit at Madera Community Hospital isn't just a
place where patients go to heal after illness or medical procedures. The
unit also serves as a learning site for the healthcare providers of the
future, as student RN's and LVN's from nearby colleges (listed
below) rotate through the unit as part of their clinical training.
